Today Show Shines: Reports No-Brainier News Story As “New?”

I love you Matt Lauer, but say it isn’t so. This morning’s five-minute spot on sexual predators contacting kids through Internet gaming is as old as the first iPhone being announced. By the rumor mill that is! “I had no idea,” you said. Really? Or was it just playing up for the cameras.

For example:

Nintendo released the potentially harmful software on their DS unit in 2004. Multiple news outlets have already run stories on the piece. Sure the Today Show was doing it’s best to educate and bring awareness to the situation, but why do you have to hype up the fact and play dumb?

The worst part? Some kid somewhere is going to lose his Nintendo DS simply because mom and dad are too paranoid, or stupid, to look at the facts and realize their kid has grown up with this technology and most likely understands how to use it.
