Quoting the AP Just Got Expensive

I just typed five words, and if you were the AP you would be charged $12.50 to repost them. In a new pricing structure recently announced, the Associated Press has decided to charge websites $2.50 a word to quote their stories. Seems a bit high to me seeing only top-tier journalists make $2.50 a word when they write, but it does continue to show the aggressive nature the AP has taken when countering their content being used online by third party sites.
