About

I started this blog just shy of three years ago while entering the world of unemployment in pursuit of following my passion for journalism and interactive storytelling. The ride has been wild and while it hasn’t always been easy, I have succeeded beyond my wildest dreams.

Currently I am working as an interactive journalist for a variety of publications, but the lack of media innovation has me hogtied. An aggressive entrepreneur I spend hours each day looking at how interactive content is engaging users in new ways and how I can continue to push the envelope.

While not in front of a computer I’m typically in the mountains. Life is made up of: climbing mountains, running-up mountains, hiking-up mountains and rafting-down mountains. But every once and a while I sneak in a Sunday afternoon nap. In other words, I am very, very, blessed.

If you would like to contact me directly I can be reached at timshisler (at) gmail (.com)

Cheers

    Tim,
What a trip to embark upon. I can’t believe you are walking away from the PR gig. Your skills there helped our start-up take off.

Your adventures will be great to follow, I hope to feel like I am travelling along.

I hope God’s plan brings you our way to Michigan, you are always welcome.

Tim- I am so proud of you for having the courage to follow your dreams. It takes a very strong and determined person to be able to walk away from thier known, comfortable lifestyle.
The road ahead will not always be easy and fun, but in the end your dreams will come true!

    Enjoy the adventure!

    Tim,

Good luck on your journey. You arte a much braver man than I. Of course, not having a wife and son helps when you decide to drop everything and embark on a cross-country road trip. Nice going – blowing most of what little money you had BEFORE starting the road trip. Only you …

Of course I am certain that you will have the time of your life, meeting people and having experiences most of us just read about. Stay safe. Have fun. Wear protection.

    Hey little brother!
What’s going on? Excellent blog site- and photo’s. Kind of makes me sorry I didn’t take more shots when I drove out here to TN. By the way, “less chit chat and more get at” translates to “a little less talk and a lot more action”, in this neck of the woods. There’s a country song from a few years back with that title. Good work and the best of luck to ya!

Is this the same Tim that once wrapped my desk in aluminum foil back at the Argus?
    I think this is you.
Tim, how are you been? On a lark, I Googled you a few minutes ago and here you are. You sound good.
I’m still in New York, Brooklyn to be exact, where I’m writing regularly for the Times. Drop me a line sometime when you get a chance.
    besos,
    Emily

I may rant and rave about the laziness and sense of entitlement of young Millennials. But Tim, you and a couple young Millennials I work with truly break the mold and helping me deal with the employment frustrations of the “know it all” whipper snappers. Thanks for the blog and wishing you success in your journeys and career.

    One Love,

Tim…Oh how I miss your face. This is Di Philpot from SSU (if you don’t remember ). I came across your page from a chain of “clicks” to say the least and I’m so happy to see that you’re doing amazing things (wouldn’t have expected anything less of course). I hope all is well and that you’re settling into life in CO quite nicely….and realizing how much more fit and in shape you are than 3/4 of our Nation. Keep up the great work and writing….Take Care 🙂

I love the blog. Your adventures are what a lot of people fail to notice in their lives; the spice and luster of everyday wake-up-brush-your-teeth-one-foot-after-the-otherness

    Hi, Tim,

My name is Katherine Stump and I stumbled across your blog searching for more information on Backpacker’s internship. I am 22, about to graduate from J-school in D.C. and I recently applied to Backpacker. I am wondering if you have any advice on nailing the interview (if I get one) or otherwise finding my way in the world of journalism/outdoor writing. How did you start out from college?

I love your blog; thanks for writing.

    Adventure on!

    Best,
    Katherine Stump

Thanks for all your tips on Yosemite. Our crew heads out in a few days. When I get back, the images will be at:

I totally admire what you’re doing!! I think it’s awesome and if I had ANY extra cash right now I’d send it your way to help you out!! That’s quite a big move to make stepping out like that, but what a way to go! You’re going to have SUCH incredible life experiences!! I want to see pics!! Wish you the best! I know that doesn’t help like $$ would, but maybe a little down the road I’ll be able to help out!

    Take care!

HEy, I like the new WordPress theme you got going here. Somewhat Apple-esque, simple, clean, easy on the eyes and easy to navigate.
